You know what? There was an ex-MTV VJ that made his own show using a Powerbook and two mics and he called it "Podcasting." There was an issue of Wired Magazine with him on the cover damn near two years ago. People were using the term "podcast" before Apple did. Apple has no right to do thsi to teh people who've made their player the most successful MP3/Portable Media device EVER.

As an American so you have no idea what conservative or liberal really means. Those words have been distorted by your politics over the last half century. Conservative is supposed to mean "balance the budget and pay down the debt" through prudent spending cuts and no unnecessarily raising of taxes.

What your so-called conservatives have done is cut taxes for the rich only, increased spending in the military industrial complex and refused to pass healthcare reform that could potentially save billions of dollars per year. The US spends more on healthcare per capita than any other country but it has the worst healthcare per capita than any other country in the world. Even Cuba has better healthcare.
Being a conservative is not about having no social programs but rather it is about being fiscally responsible with tax payers money and spending on social programs that serve the majority of citizens and help promote a strong and healthy workforce. The workforce is the engine of the economy.
Tax cuts are not a bad thing but they should only be done when the government is certain that the budget will be balanced or when they are needed for economic stimulus and they should be across the board or to people on the bottom end.
I suspect the Conservative govt we have seen in the past few years will look nothing like the next few. Their true colours are about to be revealed. Not quite Tea Party but still fairly unsavoury.

Interesting to note that a typical Christmas number 1 would sell 200-250,000 copies. So this hype has helped shift another 200,000 copies of the X-factor song. Even when they lose, they win.
I don't remember any other Christmas number 1 candidate being discount sold at 29p a copy (or whatever the equivalent cost was). Yeah, they've made money, but probably less than they made with Hallelujah last year.

I think I'm going to take it in anyways, first chance I get...I just feel like it's too unreliable and what if it happens again and there's an emergency where I need my phone? For what I paid for this thing, I shouldn't be worrying all the time that it will brick itself for no reason with no warning. I'm just concerned that if I take it in and it's working they won't swap it, and the closest Apple store is an hour away.

The only thing that might tie you down is a family. I live for traveling so I've just worked my life to be able to do what I like. 3 years ago I was a law school dropout with no prospects and a monthly loan repayment of $1100. The highest paying job I qualified for was tutoring.

I'm pretty sure Apple is well aware of how royally ATT is screwing things up. The only questions are: 1) when does ATT's exclusivity actually end, and 2) which other carriers will Apple partner with.

Since it seems pretty likely that we will be a government shutdown 2011 might as well start a thread about it.

it seems pretty clear the Tea Partiers do not want to compromise at all. They not only want 33-50bill in cuts but they want to choose were they come from.
I was listening to the new last night and instead of logical choices in cuts they wanted to go after education, Medicare and things that help the core.
refused to say cut money out of oil subsidy and tighten the ropes on agriculture subsidy.
looks like to me the Tea partiers are showing their true colors when that is what they really want.

As for students hope you have filed your FASFA by now and those who are trying to get Refunds hope you taxes are down.
As for those who have to pay some taxes a shut down could help you because it will take them longer to process the payment so you hold on to your interested longer. remember it has to be post marked by the 18th no matter what.

Right now in NYC you can walk in the Apple store anytime and get the Verizon iPad. ATT models are extremely hard to find.
So how is it that Verizon is preferred???... (I know why but I'll let you guess...:))

The survey is not a good indicator of initial US sales. Since the AT&T models are being snatched up and shipped overseas. The survey is asking US purchases which version they prefer. However, US citizens are not the only ones buying iPad 2 from Apple in the US. If the survey is accurate then over time (i.e.: as international iPad 2 availability increases) then the Verizon model should catch up to AT&T in the US and possibly pass it in sales.
I still prefer the nation's fastest network (AT&T) over the most reliable (VZW) any day. Not to mention my GSM 32GB iPad 1 can be used internationally as well. Besides, in my neck of the woods, AT&T service has been very reliable for data consumption. No complaints here.
I owned the AT&T iPad 1 and I am somebody who only buys the data plan when I am traveling for vacation or for work. In my home town, AT&T is awesome -- they have great coverage. However, last year when traveling I found that AT&T coverage was not so good. In Idaho and Utah I had terrible coverage, in New York City I had "four bars" but it was still dog slow (this is before their NYC upgrades), and in Southern California it was hit or miss. So I bought the Verizon iPad 2 64GB with the intention of sticking with AT&T for my next iPhone. That way if I get somewhere and my phone shows great AT&T coverage then I can go with the WiFi hotspot option. However, if the AT&T coverage is lacking at my destination then I can activate the Verizon plan on the iPad 2. Should give me the best of both worlds. Here's hoping AT&T gets their LTE network up and running sooner rather than later though.

i really thinking of selling my ipad.. i mean for 90% of the time my 17" MBP gets the job done.. and for quick e-mail checks or when im out the house, my iphone is invaluable, the ipad is a nice idea but i would not use it in the house, and pointless carrying that and my ip4 around

How can this now apply to 35mm? you don't have a full 35mm image circle projected through the lens. So apply your FOVCF to the actual focal length and you will get a hypothetical, imaginary number that equated to 35mm. But since your lens elements cant transmit a full 35mm image, then the argument goes out the window.
What does happen, as indicated by the linked image earlier whereby the 5D was modified to accept an EF-S lens, the image is not complete. Not enough image is sent through the optics of the lens. This shows exactly what my argument has been all along.... the image will be different. What a 1.6 camera is doing is taking that sample image, but only recording the center of it. I strongly disagree that these ads are elitist, or even snobbery. The point of the ads is that mac is different. HP can use demonstrations to show how, in a perfect world, their computers can do good stuff with windows. Apple has a different need. Apple does not build commodity computers. Apple is an ALTERNATIVE SYSTEM must differentiate itself compared to everything else out there. The need is to show that there IS a difference, and that Apple represents a very different way of working with computers.
As a recent switcher I can tell you the ads were very effective at delineating my concerns with Windows, and showing me that Mac might be the answer. ( Which, by the way, it was!)

The one in Texas the comtroller (GOP at the time) even toll scumbag Perry that if you cut property tax that for it would come back and be a problem in 2011. He called it. He told them in 2011 the budget would come up short and it was just worse than he said it was because of the tanking.

If states went into deficits because people didn't have enough money to pay their taxes how will raising taxes solve this problem?

It's highly unlikely that "unused programs" are what's slowing your system down. What's far more likely is a bad hard drive. We're not talking about Windows here--you're not likely to have a bunch of rogue processes running in the background chewing up all of your processor time.
Open up Console.app and look through the logs. If you're running 10.5 or older, check /var/log/system.log. On 10.6, check /var/log/kernel.log. Look for something like this:
disk0s2: I/O error
That would be indicative of a failing hard drive.
